INTEGRITY – Match behavior with values
Demonstrate your positive personal values in all you do and say. Be sincere and real.

Living in integrity means that everything we say and everything we do are true reflections of what we value, what’s important to us. Think about what your behavior says about you. Does it clearly show others what you value? Do you show up as honest and committed, or dishonest and indifferent? Are you spending your time with the people and activities you value, or is your focus elsewhere?

When we live in integrity we are sincere and true to ourselves—we don’t say or think one thing and do another. People trust and respect us, our relationships are solid, and we feel good about ourselves. Those positive feelings from others and within ourselves reinforce our values and build our reputation and self-esteem, leading us to greater success in all areas of our lives.

1st Grade

We play lots of games in our math curriculum. It would be easy for kids to do whatever necessary to win, or just pretend to play the games and waste their time instead. Integrity is part of our every day vocabulary.

2nd Grade

*Students demonstrate integrity in social situations when they treat others with respect.
*During math, students demonstrate integrity when they are playing their math games and know that they must play correctly even when the teacher is not watching them play.
*Students demonstrate integrity when they follow the acceptable use policy when using classroom technology.

3rd Grade

Third grade students learn about people who have made a difference in their communities. Many of these individuals demonstrate integrity in various ways. We challenge the children to be inspired by these individuals and demonstrate integrity as well. Students also show integrity when working with a partner on math facts. They are to give each other one minute to complete as many problems as they can when completing Rocket Math. The students also check their own solutions to these problems using an answer key.

4th Grade

- Many classes have adopted the Class Dojo. To begin using it we discussed many ways that kids might be recognized for behaviors both positive and negative with the Dojo. It was important for us to also have a discussion where we explained that although it is great to be recognized for doing the right thing - that we wanted our classes to develop a "moral compass" so that they were able to display integrity without needing points or recognition.

5th Grade

In so many times students have the ability to stand up and do what's right or do what is easy. Doing what is right is stressed throughout the year.

As 5th graders, they must be able to show integrity by doing the right thing even when the teacher is not looking. For instance, if the teacher has to leave the classroom momentarily to get science supplies out of the hallway closet, students show integrity by remaining on task.

Specials

In all specials, students experience Integrity in several different ways. In PE, students get to work in teams encouraging leadership and compromise as well as getting along in a group. Music and Strings students perform in ensembles, which also contribute to integrity and leadership. Art fosters integrity since students work individually on their projects and can demonstrate their individual integrity through their artwork.

Support

Children enjoy stories in the Library that are about children doing really important work. For example, Ryan and Jimmie and the Well in Africa that Brought them Together is a story about a Canadian boy who raised money to build a well in a village in Uganda. There are many biographies on people of enormous integrity, such as Lou Gehrig, Rosa Parks, Elie Wiesel, Cesar Chavez, and many many more who put their lives on hold while they explored, defended our country, and helped people.
Resource
In our resource class, we often discuss doing the right thing even when no one is looking. Out students have many opportunities as they travel back and forth to different classes to make good choices. They are expected to follow the rules of the school and their classrooms, even if no one is looking. We have read stories and watched videos that show good examples of integrity and the consequences of making unfortunate choices.
